Bro. Gene O'Bryan-Minister to Senior Adults
Bro. Gene is a graduate of Brescia College with a degree in Business Administration. He attended Bible classes through the extension department of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bro. Gene has served as a deacon and Bible study teacher for over 35 years. He was ordained at WMBC in September 1994. He has served as a bi-vocational pastor to several churches in Kentucky. Bro. Gene was called to minister to Senior Adults at WMBC in August, 2003.
He is married to Marie and they have two children—a son, Craig and a daughter, Joanie. They are also the proud grandparents of four grandsons, Corey, Caleb, Chris and Nicky.
Bro. Gene’s vision for the Senior Adult Ministry includes all the church does and can do to make life meaningful and a growing experience for seniors in our membership and community. There are five areas contained within the Senior Adult Ministry:
- Spiritual enrichment recognizes the basic need of seniors to grow spiritually and is the primary concern of the church.
- The Mental aspect of ministry acknowledges the need to stimulate the mind and provide opportunities to expand one’s information and skills.
- Social interaction realizes an important function of the church is to provide Christian fellowship—an important need of senior adults.
- The Emotional and Physical aspect of this ministry is to recognize that service opportunities provide for the senior adult’s need to continue to be useful and serve the church’s need for volunteers in ministry.
A monthly calendar of events is available from the church office and is posted on the Senior Adult Ministry bulletin board in the hallway across from the choir room.
